The Story of an American Family is a fictionalized account of a real-life American family.
Damien O’Donovan, a young Irish doctor in the 1920s, is getting ready to leave for a new career in a London hospital. British Black and Tans arrive as he tells his goodbyes at a friend’s farm, and a young man is murdered. Damien meets his brother Teddy in the Irish Republican Army, but the boys are quickly torn apart by political activities.
