In Babel, an American couple in Morocco has sparked a series of events for four families in various countries all over the world. Every person finds that it is a family which ultimately provides solace in the fight to overcome loneliness, fear and displacement. In the distant sands of the Moroccan desert, a rifle shot is thrown out detonating an incident chain that is going to link a frenetic fight by American tourist couples, two Moroccan boys engaged in an unfortunate robbery, a nanny who travels illegally to Mexico with two American children, and a teenage Japanese rebel whose dad is searched after by the police in Tokyo. Separated by conflicting identities and widespread distances, each of these four disparate classes hurls to a joint fate of alienation and sorrow.
