The Burlesque Lounge has seen better days. Tess, the venue’s owner and a former performer, is fighting to hold the aged theater afloat, despite a variety of financial and creative difficulties. With the Lounge’s troupe members become deeply overwhelmed by personal issues and a challenge posed by a rich businessman’s attempt to purchase the club from Tess, luck seems to have deserted the club entirely. Meanwhile, Ali, a small-town kid from Iowa, is about to get her world turned upside down. Ali escapes a hollow past when Tess hires her as a waitress at the Lounge. She soon falls in love with the art of burlesque. She succeeds in realizing her dream of being on stage, thanks to newfound friends among the theater’s staff. However, things take a surprising turn as Ali’s powerful voice renders her the center of attention at the place.
