The first tale took place four years prior to Tai and Kari Kamiya’s journey into the Digital World. It depicts their first contact with Digimon and the events that followed (as well as the other children). When Tai and Kari wake up one morning, they discover a Digi-Egg that had escaped from their machine the night before, and the egg hatches quickly, releasing a Botamon. The Digimon then transforms into Koromon and then Agumon (not the same one who became friends with Tai in the film, but both Koromon and Kari know each other), who then accidentally kills a large portion of the community while carrying Kari on his back. A second Digi-Egg emerges in the clouds, revealing Parrotmon, an evil digimon. Agumon then transforms into Greymon, but he is unable to defeat Parrotmon and is knocked out. Tai takes Kari’s whistle and uses it to awaken Greymon, who kills Parrotmon and then vanishes with him.
