Charlotte Flax, fifteen, is fed up with her erratic mother relocating their family to a new town whenever she thinks it is appropriate. Charlotte and her 9-year-old niece, Kate, expect that when they relocate to a tiny Massachusetts town and Mrs. Flax starts dating a shopkeeper, they will be able to eventually settle down. However, as Charlotte’s attraction to an older man interferes, the family must begin to tolerate each other for who they are.
