Overview centered on the Shocking True Story
Monsieur Hulot, a clumsy character, is befuddled by the daunting complexities of a gadget-filled Paris. He sets out to communicate with a business contact, but quickly becomes disoriented. His circuitous route mirrors that of an American tourist, and as they weave through the imaginative metropolitan world, they come across each other and grow a curiosity in each other. They finally meet up with a group of other odd characters in a crowded diner.
