Overview

Alan Parker (Jackson) is a young artist who attends the University of Maine in 1969. He develops a death obsession, and thinking he is about to lose his mother, Jessica (Christensen), he attempts suicide on his birthday, but his friends intervene, and he recovers. He learns that his mother has suffered a stroke and plans to hitchhike to the hospital to see her.
