The civilian shuttlecraft of the Towani family falls on Endor’s forest earth. The Towanis have been divided into four classes. The mother and father, Jermitt and Catarine, are caught by the giant Gorax, and the son and daughter, Mace and Cindel, are missing when they are found. The Ewok Deej is searching for his two sons the next day when they come across Cindel alone in the shuttle (Mace and Cindel were looking for the transmitter to send a distress call), when Mace emerges with his emergency blaster. Cindel, a four-year-old Ewok, eventually persuades the adolescent Mace that the Ewoks are cool. The Ewoks and Towani’s then embark on a quest to locate the elder Towanis.
