In 1987, Gary Hart, a longtime Senator from Colorado, becomes the Democratic presidential front-runner. Young people want Hart because of his intellect, charm, and idealism, and he seems to have a straightforward route to the White House. All of that comes crashing down after newspaper reports emerge of an extramarital affair, prompting the nominee to fix a controversy that threatens to derail both his campaign and his personal life.
