A bitter man recognized only as the Phantom resides in the sewers under the Paris Opera House, deformed since birth. He falls in love with Christine, an unknown chorus singer, and tutors her secretly thus terrorizing the majority of the opera house and insisting that Christine be given lead roles. Things worsen as Christine reconnects with an old friend, Raoul, and the two fell in love.
