Itinerant journalist Paul Kemp journeys to the pristine island of Puerto Rico to report for a small San Juan newspaper owned by the downtrodden publisher Lotterman, tired of the noise and hysteria of New York and the crippling traditions of late Eisenhower-era America. Paul gets embroiled with a very beautiful American woman and her fiancée, a developer engaged in shady land construction transactions, after adopting the rum-soaked lifestyle of Hemingway’s ‘The Lost Generation’ in the late 1950s. Kemp eventually finds his real voice as a writer and his dignity as a guy in this country.
