Overview

By 2017, the world market had crashed, and the United States had devolved into an authoritarian police state that censored all forms of cultural expression. The government pacifies the public by airing a series of game shows on which sentenced offenders struggle for their life, such as the gladiator-style The Running Man, presented by the ruthless Damon Killian, in which “”runners”” try to escape “”stalkers”” and probable death in exchange for the opportunity to be pardoned and set free.
