Ex FBI agent Doctor Dana Scully is now a staff physician at Our Lady of Sorrows, a Catholic facility, and treating a child called Christian who has Sandhoff syndrome, a terminal brain illness, six years after the events of The X-Files series finale. Agent Drummy arrives to ask Scully for assistance in finding Fox Mulder, the elusive former director of the X-Files branch, and suggests that if he can investigate the disappearances of some people, including young FBI agent Monica Banan, the manhunt for him would be called off. When a retired priest appears to be having psychic visions of an abducted agent, the FBI summons Mulder and Scully back to service.
