Overview
As Umberto Domenico Ferrari comes home from a rally asking for an increase in old-age benefits, his landlady requests her 15,000-lire rent by the end of the month or he and his tiny dog will be thrown out into the pavement. Umberto, unable to obtain the funds on time, fabricates an infection in order to be admitted to a veterinarian, entrusting his precious dog to the landlady’s pregnant and neglected maid for temporary care.
