There is no such thing as a safe soul.
In 1910, a Chicago steel worker inadvertently kills his boss and flees to the Texas panhandle with his girlfriend and younger sister to grow wheat in a stoic farmer’s lands. Malick captures a love triangle, a plague of locusts, and a hellish fire of dreamlike realism, creating both a timeless American idyll and a grim depiction of turn-of-the-century labor.
