Overview
Nejat seems to be disapproving of his widower father Ali’s live-in mother, prostitute Yeter. When he learns that she sends money home to Turkey for her daughter’s university studies, he develops a fondness for her. Yeter’s untimely death puts a barrier between father and wife. Yeter’s daughter Ayten is missing, so Nejat goes to Istanbul to find her. Ayten, a political prisoner, has eluded Turkish authorities and is now in Germany. Lotte, a young woman who befriends her, welcomes the defiant Ayten to linger in her house, an act that her strict mother Susanne does not appreciate. When Ayten is apprehended and her refugee request is refused, she is returned to Turkey and incarcerated. Lotte flies to Turkey and becomes engrossed in the almost hopeless task of rescuing Ayten.
