From the unfathomable limits of a woman’s feelings…
This celebrated French film, deemed one of the vanguard productions of the French New Wave, is based on a deep conversation between a Japanese architect and a French actress. Set in Hiroshima after World War II, the pair — partners turned mates — relate past romances and life events over the course of several hours. The two intertwine their past stories with contemplation of the city’s destruction caused by the atomic bomb dropped on it.
