Maggie is a New York City-based single mother and college writing instructor. In order to reconnect with her depressed adolescent daughter Summer, she plans to travel to a Tuscan village she used to visit while she was younger. Maggie meets Luca, a handsome ex boyfriend who is now single and stays with his eighty-year-old mother Carmen when she arrives. Summer (missing her “”evil guy”” lover in NYC) and Carmen (secretly arranging a wedding to MARCELINO, her one true love in Rome, despite Luca’s wishes) impulsively grab Luca’s car and speed off to Rome. Maggie and Luca pursue each other easily, enabling the two mismatched partners to spend time together and get a better understanding of one another.
