This is the tale of two men who set out to show anything to the universe rather than to escape. They would put everything on the line to accomplish their objectives… except their honor.
Two ambitious young runners prepare for the 1924 Paris Olympics in the class-obsessed and religiously segregated United Kingdom of the early 1920s. Eric Liddell, a devout Christian who was born in China to Scottish missionaries, sees running as a form of worship for God’s glory, and declines to practice or race on the Sabbath. Harold Abrahams overcomes anti-Semitism and class prejudice, but in his single-minded pursuit, he neglects his beloved sweetheart.
