Dickie Roberts, a 1970s TV kid star, is now 35 and works as a car park attendant. He auditions for a job as a regular guy in order to reclaim his spotlight, but the director soon realizes he is anything but normal. Dickie, desperate for the role, recruits a family to help him relive his youth and take on the persona of a regular boy.
