John Hall is a drifter who finds himself in a tiny Maine town. He is in search of work and agrees to apply for a position at the community’s most prestigious company: a big textile mill. He’s employed to work the “”graveyard shift,”” which runs from about midnight to sunrise, and he’s tasked with clearing out the basement with a few others. This mission seems to be straightforward enough to the workers, but as they progress further underground, they come face to face with an unspeakable monstrosity bent on devouring them all.
