Behrani, an Iranian refugee, buys a California bungalow with the aim of fixing it up and reselling it to pay for his son’s college education. Kathy, a convicted heroin dealer, is the legitimate owner of the building. She has nowhere to go after losing her home in an unjust court battle with the city. She employs a prosecutor and befriends a cop in order to reclaim her home. Kathy and Behrani haven’t violated the rules, so they’re caught in the middle of a legal quagmire.
