Melanie Parker, an architect and Sammy’s girlfriend, and Jack Taylor, a newspaper columnist and Maggie’s father, are divorced. When Jack is accidentally left with Maggie and forgets that Melanie was supposed to drive her to kindergarten, they meet one morning. As a result, both children are unable to attend their school field trip and are stranded at home with their parents. The two adults project their stereotypical stereotypes about ex-spouses onto each other, however they end up relying on each other to watch the kids in order to save their employment. Sammy’s proclivity for putting things through his nose and Maggie’s proclivity for wandering contribute to the hilarity.
