Overview

The Massacre of St. Bartholomew took place on the night of August 24, 1572. A religious conflict is underway in France. A coercive wedding is planned between Margot de Valois, the sister of the immature Catholic King Charles IX, and the Hugenot King Henri of Navarre in order to enforce reconciliation. Catherine of Medici keeps her influence hidden behind the scenes by ordering assassinations, poisonings, and incitements to incest.
