Jimmy Rabbitte, fresh out of training, has a genius idea: form a soul band in his slum home in north Dublin, Barrytown. He first wants musicians and performers, and things start to fall into place when he discovers three fine-voiced females practically in his back yard, a lead singer (Deco) at a party, and an elderly trumpet player, Joey “”The Lips”” Fagan, who responded to his ad.
