Overview

As three women live on the fringe of the American frontier are made insane by the harshness of pioneer life, it falls to the devout, self-reliant Mary Bee Cuddy to save them. As she decides to transport the woman to Iowa by covered wagon, she quickly discovers how difficult the trip would be, so she hires a low-life drifter named George Briggs to accompany her. The unlikely couple and the three women travel east, where they are welcomed by a minister and his wife. However, the party must first travel through the rugged Nebraska Territories, which are known for their bleak beauty, psychological danger, and relentless challenge.
