It’s 1958 in Hollywood. Marla Mabrey, a small-town beauty queen and devout Baptist virgin, appears in Los Angeles on a deal with the notorious Howard Hughes. She encounters her guide, Frank Forbes, at the airport, who is engaged to be married to his seventh-grade sweetheart and is a devout Methodist. Their sudden love not only tests their moral values, but it also defies Hughes’ most important rule: no employee is supposed to have some kind of partnership with a contract actress. Hughes’ actions has a somewhat different and unpredictable impact on Marla and Frank, and as they are pulled further into his strange culture, their beliefs are questioned and their lives are altered.
