The country of Panem mandates each of its twelve districts to send an adolescent boy and girl to participate in the Hunger Games every year in the remains of what was once North America. The Hunger Games was a globally broadcast series in which “”Tributes”” challenge each other before no one survives. Katniss is expected to depend on her keen intuition as well as the mentorship of alcoholic former victor Haymitch Abernathy when she is pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have spent their whole lives preparing for these Games. Katniss must make hard decisions in the arena weighing survival against morality and existence against passion if she is ever to return to District 12. The whole of the planet will be waiting.
