King Henry II’s three sons both want to inherit the throne in 1183 AD, but he refuses to make a decision. They, along with his mom, devise numerous schemes to coerce him. King Henry II of England and Ireland, who is aged and devious, is planning a reunion at which he intends to name his successor. He invites the following people to his chateau and primary residence in Chinon, Anjou, inside the Angevin Empire of medieval France: his scheming yet imprisoned wife, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine; his mistress, Princess Alais, whom he wishes to marry; his three sons, gay Richard the Lionheart, Geoffrey, and John, both of whom want the throne; and the young but cunning King Philip I.
