Christmas is about to take a big detour for the Duncan team.

Teddy Duncan’s middle-class family takes a road ride from Denver to Palm Springs to see Mrs. Duncan’s parents, the Blankenhoopers. They attempt to catch a trip to Las Vegas with a seemingly average older couple in a station wagon from Roswell, New Mexico, as they get stuck between Denver and Utah. It points out that the pair thinks they have been abducted by aliens. To get to Utah, the Duncans would buy a clunker Yugo, have their luggage robbed in Las Vegas, and endure a wacky Christmas with Grandpa and Grandma Blankenhooper.
