Charlie Lang is a straightforward, good-natured New York City policeman. As Lang learns he doesn’t have enough money to tip waitress Yvonne Biasi, he gives her part of his lottery winnings. Surprisingly, the ticket turns out to be a millionaire, with a prize of $4 million. Lang keeps his promise and divides the reward money with Biasi, much to the chagrin of his jealous wife, Muriel. Muriel is dissatisfied with the deal and plots to steal all of the capital.
