The 12th of August, 2000, in the Barents Sea. The K-141 Kursk submarine sinks with 118 crew members on board during a Russian naval drill after a critical crash. While the few survivors fight to stay alive, their families demand reliable intelligence, and a British officer battles the Russian government for permission to try a rescue until it’s too late. All of their attempts, though, are thwarted by general stupidity.
