Overview of the Situation
Based on the Ming Dynasty novel “”Jin Ping Mei,”” a traditional Chinese novel. The novel is the first full-length Chinese fictional book to explicitly portray sexuality. Ximen Quing, a dishonest social climber and lustful trader who is rich enough to marry a consort of wives and concubines, is the focus of the film (as well as the novel).
