A greedy landowner who wants to take their land terrorizes a remote gold mining camp. Clint Eastwood enters on a pale horse, just as a young girl prays to God for assistance to the miners. He is discovered to be an enigmatic and perhaps extraterrestrial prophet who joins forces with the miners to overthrow the landowner and crooked sheriff.
